1885 - The advertising floodgates open

Britain's cocoa market was huge by 1885, and magazine printing had developed such that more lavish pictorial advertising could be produced. These examples are from the following 25 years.

Rowntree's included coupons for free sample tins in newspaper advertising in 1895, and later expanded this into a catalogue of goods which could be claimed by collecting coupons from the cocoa tins, and free medals celebrating royal coronations.
